Former Independent Office for Police Conduct Director General, Michael Lockwood, has been charged with multiple counts of indecent assault and rape against a girl under the age of 16, alleged to have occurred during the 1980s.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorized charges against Lockwood, 64, for nine offences under the Sexual Offences Act 1956. Rosemary Ainslie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, stated that the CPS carefully reviewed the evidence provided by Humberside Police before authorizing the charges.
The CPS reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active and that Lockwood is entitled to a fair trial.
